Agrology professionals specialize in many areas of practice, dependent on their education, interests and experience.  Agrology professionals may:

  • Assist planning decision-makers how to restore land for safe use in agriculture, e.g. contaminated sites assessment and remediation
  • Offer science-based advice on environmental issues, e.g. ecological land classification and mapping, natural resources management and forest management, environmental management systems and audit, air and water quality monitoring.
  • Provide recommendations to government and industry on how to improve food production and support economic activity, e.g. food safety and biological security, food and feed development and processing.
  • Offer science-based advice on best use of fertilizer and pest management, e.g. pest management and biological control, waste, compost management and manure control
  • Offer science-based advice on best use of animal nutrition, production conditions and animal welfare, e.g. livestock development, production and management.
  • Educate future agrologists via mentorship and role modelling.
